United chase PSG's Verratti

PSG are nervous about Manchester United’s interest in Marco Verratti. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson posted a scout to see Verratti in action against Olympique Marseille on Sunday. The Italian's agent has confirmed Ferguson's interest and PSG are now moving to upgrade the youngster's contract. The midfielder will be offered a €1 million-a-year increase on his €1.5 million salary with the deal running to 2017. PSG chief Leonardo insists ManchesterUnited can't afford Marco Verratti. PSG 's sporting director Leonardo has placed a considerable price tag (£34m) on the player in an attempt to ward off interest in him. He told Tuttosport : "There is no chance of any club signing him, especially as he is now worth no less than €30m or €40m. "We all believe in Verratti here. We have no intention of selling him."
