FA charge for John Terry

John Terry has been charged by the Football Association for alleged racial abuse of QPR’s Anton Ferdinand. The Chelsea skipper was acquitted of a racially aggravated public order offence by the Westminster Magistrates Court earlier this month but the FA have decided tolay a charge on the defender. Terry is free to play for England while the inquiry into the incident, which occurred on October 23 last year, continues and has until next week to respond.

Ambassador Schmeichel

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel has been appointed as club ambassador for the team. The 48-year-old Dane, who won five Premier League titles, three FA Cups and the Champions League during a trophy-laden eight-year spell at Old Trafford, will join the likes of Sir Bobby Charlton, Bryan Robson, Gary Neville and Andrew Cole in helping to promote the Red Devils. Schmeichel told the club's official website, www.manutd.com "It's a great honour to be an ambassador for Manchester United. "I spent many happy years at the club and achieved some of my greatest sporting accolades whilst playing here, so I was delighted to be asked to take up this role. "I am looking forward to working with United again and sharing my experiences, as well as catching up with some of my former team-mates." Schmeichel, who won 129 caps for Denmark, became a massive crowd favourite during his playing career with United and skippered the Red Devils to their famous 1999 Champions League win over Bayern Munich, when Roy Keane was suspended.

P-Square's mum to be buried on August 2nd

The body of the mother of multiple award-winning singers, P-Square, Mrs. Josephine Okoye, 62, which is currently in a Lagos private mortuary, will be laid to rest in her husband’s house at Ifite-Dunu, Akwa Village, Anambra State on Thursday, 2 August, 2012. Shortly before the burial, there will be a lying-in-state at her Umunachi, Umudioka Village, Anambra State and a church service at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, before the proper burial at Ifite-Dunu, which will also be the reception venue and is expected to be attended by colleagues of P-Square in the entertainment industry and somestate governors amid tight security. Late Mrs Okoye is survived by herhusband, Mr. Moses Okoye and eight children namely Christopher, Henry, Jude, Lilian, Tony, Peter, Paul and Mary.
