PEP WANT SAF'S POST

Pep Guardiola is ready to snub Chelsea because he wants to bossManchester United. Blues owner Roman Abramovich is hoping the former Barcelona chief will take over at Stamford Bridge next summer. But Guardiola, who is on a year’s sabbatical in New York, fancies moving in at Old Trafford when Alex Ferguson retires. That could be at the end of this season. If not, Guardiola would beprepared to hold out for another year. Fergie and Guardiola are close friends and have met privately in New York. A source close to Guardiola said: “The whole history of Manchester United, his relationship with Sir Alex and the way the club is run appeals to Pep. “Right now I’d be astonished if hewent to Chelsea. He really wants towait for the United job even if it means extending his time out of the game.” Guardiola wants to be able to concentrate on all aspects of the football club without interference from above. Red Rom’s constant hiring and firing of managers — interim chief Rafa Benitez is his ninth boss in a decade — does not appeal.

CHELSEA FLAIR ALREADY PREDICTABLE

Forget Roberto di Matteo. The most nervous about Chelsea 's dipin form has to be West Bromwich Albion manager Steve Clarke. For all the flair of Juan Mata , Oscar and Eden Hazard , Chelsea are looking predictable. It was Swansea City who scored the sort of goal Blues' midfield should be crafting. Fernando Torres isn't playing as a goal scorer, but more as a playmaker. His best moments at the Liberty came when he was trying to play in teammates, which is really overkill given the wealth of creativity at Di Matteo's disposal. Romelu Lukaku, currently on-loan at the Baggies, would offer the manager something completely different to what he has. He doesn't like the Didier Drogba comparison, but Lukaku is the one player on Chelsea 's books capable of playing with his back to goal. At the moment, Chelsea 's biggest threat is coming from set-pieces. Their little creators are being crowded out and kept at arm's length by opposition defences.

AYC Qualifier: South Africa 1 - 1 Nigeria

Nigeria's Flying Eagles have brightened their chances of defending the African Youth Championship (AYC) trophy they won in 2011 after they drew 1-1 against the Amajita of South Africa in the first leg of the final round qualifying match in Nelspruit on Friday. The Amajita, who had earlier beaten the country's U-20 national team in a friendly encounter in July, got the curtain raiser in the first half before the Nigerians fought back gamely to even scores in the second half through hard working Abduljelil Ajagun in the second half. The Flying Eagles will host the return leg at the Ilorin Township Stadium in Kwara State on October 7th and will be the pundits' favourites to advance to the AYC slated for next year. Nigeria saw the better of the Ngorongoro Heroes of Tanzania in the last round 4-1 on aggregate while South Africa defeated Congo only on away goals rule after both ended the tie2-2 apiece. Nigeria edged the Cubs of Cameroon 3-2 in the final of the last AYC decided in South Africa in 2011 courtesy of Terry Envoh's extra time strike after both sides ended the regulation time 2-2. The Flying Eagles went ahead to the Fifa U-20 World Cup in Colombia but bowed out in the quarter final despite putting up a valiant battle against France. It ended 1-3 in favour of the European nation.

United tracks Everton star

According to reports from the Daily Mirror , Manchester United is believed to be tracking Everton star midfielder, Marouane Fallaini in hopes of making a potential bid for the player in the January transfer window. Fellaini has been the topic of much discussion in the past several weeks since the close of the summer transfer window at the beginning of September and he is thought to be a potential massive signing for one of several clubscome January. Manchester United could use the player as the long term effectiveness of Michael Carrick is becoming more and more suspect. Additionally the health of Darren Fletcher in the long run of things is also under a microscope because he is yet to truly return to full health and is a major worry for the club. If Fellaini moves to Old Traffordit would be a true steal for the Red Devils as he is a type of midfield weapon they are lacking as he is a true box to box midfielder that can play as effectively deep in a holding position just as in a high attacking position. His height and aerial ability is also a major boost for his potential value to another club aside from Everton.

United Pens New Sponsorship Deal

Manchester United have announced a seven-year shirt sponsorship deal with General Motors. Chevrolet, the club's official car partner, will become only the fifth shirt sponsor in the club's 134-year history from the 2014-15 season. United's commercial director, Richard Arnold, told the club's official website : "This is a fantastic, long-term deal for the club. "We have been partners with Chevrolet for only six weeks, but already they have produced some fantastic ideas that will benefit both the partnership and our 659million followers around the world. "They are a key partner on our current tour and I know they have enjoyed experiencing the buzz generated by our fanatical support and the sell-out crowds in South Africa, China, and Europe. "It is a great thrill for those of us who work with partners all year round when an existing partner steps up to being one of our principal partners. Liverpool accept offer for Aquilani

Liverpool have accepted an undisclosed offer from Fiorentina for Italian midfielder Alberto Aquilani. The 28-year-old has flown to Italy from the Reds' pre-season tour of the United States to complete his move. Liverpool are likely to step up their attempts to sign Swansea's Joe Allen if the deal proceeds as expected. Aquilani has failed to settle at Anfield since signing in 2009 for £20m from Roma and has been on loan for the last two seasons. His stints at AC Milan last term and Juventus in the 2010-11 season mean he did not play for former Reds' managers Kenny Dalglish and only made two appearances for Roy Hodgson. And despite having two years left on his contract and completing pre-season under new boss Brendan Rodgers, it appears that his time at Liverpool is coming to a conclusion. Rafael Benitez brought Aquilani toAnfield as a replacement for Xabi Alonso, but he struggled with injury and made 26 appearances in his first season.

He almost ruined his chances of a move by refusing to go on Spurs’ pre-season tour. But Real officials persuaded him to apologise and return. Mikel Returns To Super Eagles

Chelsea ace Mikel Obi will stage a long-awaited return to the Super Eagles for a 2013 Nations Cup qualifier in Liberia, officials disclosed. From the programme Eagles coach Stephen Keshi submitted tothe Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for the AFCON qualifier in Monrovia on September 8, MTNFootball.comscooped that the Chelsea midfielder, who was sensationally left out of the June qualifiers, has been handed a second chance with the national team. Keshi has allegedly been at odds with Mikel’s commitment to the national cause and that was why he overlooked him in June, just weeks after he starred in Chelsea’s historic UEFA ChampionsLeague triumph at Bayern Munich. “Mikel is among the players listed by Keshi for the Liberia match,” a top official specially informed MTNFootball.com. Also staging a return to the Eaglesis Olympic team standout star Nosa Igiebor, who last featured inNovember’s friendly against Zambia in Kaduna. The midfielder, who can play either as a playmaker or an offensive player coming from deep, has continued to shine at Israeli club Hapoel Tel Aviv. And with Keshi desperate for creativityin the middle of the park, the former Warri Wolves star has thusbeen reconsidered. Another player set for a comebackis Russia-based striker Emmanuel Emenike, who has already got off to a flying start in the new seasonwith Spartak Moscow. MTNFootball.comhas already broken the story that Emenike willget another chance to impress in a green-white-green shirt after hewas put in the cold since after theZambia friendly in Kaduna. Despite his goals and growing profile in Turkey and now Russia, the big striker has yet to establishhimself in the Eagles.

IT IS AN HONEST MISTAKE

David Cameron has said every effort will be made to ensure mistakes such as last night's Olympic flag mix-up never happen again. The Prime Minister said the error, in which the South Korean flag was wrongly shown instead of sworn enemy North Korea's at a football game, was "an honest mistake" for which an apology has been issued. The North Korean women's team staged a protest ahead of their match with Colombia after the South Korean flag was wrongly shown on a big screen at Glasgow's Hampden Park stadium. As a consequence, the players walked off the pitch and delayed the match by an hour.

Mancini said: "For an answer to these questions you need to talk to the man in charge. I'm not in charge of these things. "Its important to get players in. Emeka Ike leaving nollywood temporarily

Nollywood actor Emeka Ike has denied quitting nollywood. The actor who spoke in an interview granted to Encomium magazine reporter on Sunday 22 July said he is leaving nollywood temporarily to strategise: "I have not quit Nollywood in the real sense of the word. What I did was to withdraw all my movies from the market, and I mean all the movies that are related with Emeka Ike...and the reason is not far fetched. I am angry with what is going on in the industry. My conscience would not allow me to go on with the decay in the industry. So, I feel that was the best thing to do, to dissociate myself from the problem and stand out! So, henceforth, any Nollywood moviewould not involve Emeka Ike. Rather, I want to market all my movies on the label of Emeka Ike Production. If you want to deal with me as an actor, you have to work with me under the label. That clearly separates me from Nollywood"

Bebe Lift United

The Red Devils failed to exert any significant pressure until the much-maligned Bebe fashioned a response to Alcardo van Graan's smartly-taken goal four minutes from time at the Cape Town Stadium. New-boy Nick Powell was given 25 minutes to impress in central midfield. It was the introduction of record signing Dimitar Berbatov that really livened the 50,000 crowd up, though Van Graan threatened to emerge the hero until Bebe struck at the far post. Nicky Law's thunderous second-half strike gave Motherwell a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw against Everton in Stevie Hammell's testimonial at Fir Park. In front of the 4,512 fans, including 1,049 from Merseyside, who turned out to pay tribute to the Steelmen's left-back, Shane Duffy gave the visitors the lead in the 34th minute with a header which went in off the post. However, midfielder Law levelled in the 54th minute with a left-footed drive from the edge of the box which gave Toffees keeper Tim Howard no chance.

Man Utd baulk at Lucas Moura price

Christian Eriksen is set to demandanswers from Ajax about a move to Manchester United. The Denmark international, 20, has been told that the Dutch champions have opened talks with two clubs ready to meet their £20million valuation. Zenit St Petersburg are believed tohave registered their interest and Eriksen wants to know whether Sir Alex Ferguson has sanctioned a rival bid. Eriksen will speak with Marc Overmars, Ajax’s new director of football, his week to discover whether his dream of playing for United is soon to be realised. Sources in Holland believe if United meet the £20m asking price they will get their man as Ajax attempt to balance their books. Ferguson was glowing about Eriksen after United knocked Ajaxout of the Europa League last season. Ajax have already signed Adam Maher from AZ Alkmaar to fill the playmaker role that Erikson has excelled in as Ajax have won successive Dutch titles. Eriksen rejected the opportunity to speak with Manchester City lastsummer because he had set his heart on joining either United or Barcelona.

CHISORA KNOCKED OUT OF THE HAYE

David Haye defeated Dereck Chisora with a fifth-round knockout in an enthralling contest at Upton Park. Haye floored Chisora with a brutal left-hook, right-hand combination in the fifth. Chisora just managed to climb to his feet but after three right hooksand two lefts from Haye the fight was over. Earlier, Chisora had controversially rocked British rival Haye with a punch after the bell had sounded in the third round. The victory will now open up the possibility of a fight against WBC world heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko - who Haye has been calling out for over two years. On a possible fight with Klitschko, Haye said: "I've sent out a very scary message. I'll be surprised if Vitali Klitschko wants to fight me after that. He will no doubt try to fight some chump nobody has ever heard of and then retire to bea politician." For Haye this was redemption following his comprehensive points defeat to Wladimir Klitschkolast year. Haye retired following that defeat but was tempted to make a return to the ring after he was involved in an ugly brawl withChisora at a news conference in Munich in February 2012. That set up a widely-hyped grudgematch and in front of 30,000 fans at a rain-soaked Upton Park this fight lived up to its billing. Chisora, 28. entered the ring hooded and masked to the theme music from Gladiator as the rain pelted down while Haye as ever looked relaxed and focussed. And it was Chisora who landed thefirst clean punch of the fight a solid left hook that rattled the chin of Haye. But Haye, wearing trainers, was in the mood to fight and he shaded the opening three rounds before the first moment of controversy. As the bell sounded Haye was caught with two cheap shots fromChisora, the second - a huge left - rocked Haye as he stumbled back to his stool. It served only as motivation for Haye, and after the pair stood toe-to-toe trading some fierce shots in a thrilling fourth round, the 31-year-old finally floored his man in explosive fashion. After stalking his man throughout the round, a huge left-right combination in the final minute of the fifth floored Chisora who bravely climbed to his feet. It took five more brutal punches for Haye to finish the fight - all of which Chisora took flush, includinga sickening final left hook - with the end coming just in time for thebell. Again Chisora climbed to his feet, but he was in no condition tobox on and the contest was endedby referee Luis Pabon. Haye said: "Chisora has one of the best chins I've hit. I was hitting him with shots that would normally put people away but he kept coming. "I didn't give him much respect before the fight but that is the wayboxing is. He gave me a lot harder night than I anticipated. "This is the best atmosphere I've ever experienced in my life. This was one of the best British boxingmatches in recent years." Chisora, who was stopped for the first time, said: "That was a great fight, I got caught, I don't know what with, but it was a great shot. This is boxing - there has to be one winner, I will come back."
